Free Before/After Templates for Instagram and Facebook

Free Canva templates for landscaping before/after posts, plus the exact photo-shooting checklist we use on every job.

People love a good landscaping transformation. That's where before/after photos come in.

We built two free Canva templates so the "posting it" part is done for you:

  • Instagram template — a clean 1080x1080 before/after square, ready for feed posts
  • Facebook & ad template — a 1200x630 version with a "Yard Transformation" headline, your business name, and a footer for your phone number, website, and "Free Estimates"

Drop your before photo on the left, your after photo on the right, swap in your business name and contact info. Done.

The checklist we use to make sure the photos are worth posting

Before you start the job:

  • Get a sign-off from the homeowner to use photos in your marketing.
  • Shoot the "before" from the same spot you'll shoot the "after." Mark it if you have to.
  • Don't over-tidy the "before." A little mess makes the transformation more believable, not less.

On the day you finish:

  • Shoot in the golden hour: the 20-30 minutes after sunrise or before sunset. The light does half the work for you.
  • Blow off the walkways, sweep the patio, and pull any stray hoses, trash cans, or equipment out of frame.
  • Shoot wide first (the whole space), then detail shots (stonework, plantings, edging).
  • Take more than you think you need. 10-15 angles per job, not 2.
  • Shoot horizontal. Vertical only if it's specifically for Stories or Reels.

Before you upload anywhere:

  • Rename the files with your location and service in them (e.g. westfield-backyard-patio-after.jpg), not IMG_4821.jpg. It helps you show up in Google Images and on your Business Profile.
  • Pick the most dramatic transformation to lead with, not just the most recent job.

A slightly imperfect, real photo beats an overproduced, fake-looking one every time.
